Portraits tell a visual story about a human being. That's why I have been painting and drawing people for so long. I like their stories. I am drawn to extremes, especially light vs. dark. In my pencil work I incorporate the white of the paper with the darkest darks. The interplay of those two extremes along with all the middle values defines my work so that the viewer can walk away having met someone new.
