Growing up in Holland, I spent much time in museums filled with works by the Old Dutch Masters. Their masterpieces became my silent teachers. In “Homage To Rogier & Margaret” I’ve attired my wife as if in a Rogier Van der Weyden portrait, placing her pots behind her, with her clay tools in hand. With “The Gentle Man” I’ve dressed a friend in the garb of a genteel merchant, one who might have sat for Hans Memling.
