"The sitter in this portrait is my loquacious daughter, Kristen, in a rare moment of repose at age thirteen. I first painted her at about age five and I wanted to capture her again, just before the full bloom of becoming a woman. I love the linear quality of her hair and hands and the contrast of her casual clothing with a formal pose."
